The cold war rocking the Kwara State Chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has snowballed into a serious crisis, with one faction loyal to the Minister of Information & Culture, Alhaji Layiwola “Lai” Mohammed and the other to the Governor, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman.
The crisis escalated with the removal of the State Chairman, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (a loyalist of Minister Lai Mohammed) for anti-party activities; a move many point to the Governor as master-mind. Samari Abdullahi, his Deputy has since taken over as Chairman of the
State Caretaker Committee.
Attempts by the APC National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mai Mala Buni, and Governor Sani Bello of Niger State to intervene have not been fruitful.
It exacerbated today, ending with a Chair fight during the APC membership registration exercise meeting at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Ilorin.
No fewer than ten members sustained injuries.
