Are you a Follower or a Fan of Jesus?

In the Gospel of John 6:60-69, we reached the climax of Jesus’ teachings on the Holy Eucharist in the Gospel of John-His body and blood as true food.

After hearing this, many of the disciples stopped following Jesus, except the Apostles. The message of Jesus was truly revolutionary and challenging; hence many chose to walk away. They walked away from the giver of life and the Holy Spirit, they walked away from the Way, the Truth, and Life.

Today it is no different: many Christians choose what they want to believe about Jesus, they want the “version” of Jesus and his “teachings” that suits them; thus, they fall for any “gospel” on the street corners that has no element of salvation. Christianity has thus become a booming business for many. However, these “versions of Christianity” are not Christianity at all.

Dear child of God, truth be told; the teaching about the real presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist is “difficult” to fully comprehend partly because it is a mystery. It calls for a special act of faith. “We believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the consecrated Host and Wine because we believe that Jesus is God, and nothing is impossible for God.

Even if we cannot explain the “how” of this mystery we accept it as a doctrine of Catholicism based on the authority and veracity of the Gospels as Divine Revelation”. Even in Christendom today, it is one of the doctrines that keep us as separated brethren.
However, believing is an act of faith and thus a gift from God. “For this reason, I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted by the Father”. May we, therefore, ask God the Father to grant us such faith to believe and make use of such faith daily by following and adoring Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, WHERE SUCH FAITH IS DAILY RENEWED!

Finally child of God, there comes a time in one’s life when you must make or take fundamental decisions. Peter on behalf of the other apostles made THE FUNDAMENTAL DECISION to stay put with Jesus since He has the message of Eternal Life. YOU MUST STAND FOR SOMETHING OTHERWISE YOU FALL FOR EVERYTHING.

Are you on the side of Jesus or not? Being a disciple of Jesus does not involve the “either-or” ideology, we must fully declare our total loyalty to Him. It is not putting one leg in the camp of Jesus and the other leg in the camp of the Devil. Some Christians are guilty of this! Christians on Sundays, but on weekdays they become agents of something else.

Interrogate yourself: ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OR A FAN OF JESUS? God bless your weekend and may it be filled sweet memories. Blessings to you and your family.
Remember that A CHRISTIAN IS NOT AN ORDINARY PERSON AND THE LIFE OF A CHRISTIAN IS A LIFE OF WARFARE.
