Senator Ike Ekweremadu is a Nigerian politician who has served in various capacities in the Nigerian government. He was born on May 12, 1962, in Mpu, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria. He holds a law degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master’s degree in criminal law and another in constitutional law from the University of London.

Senator Ekweremadu was a member of the Nigerian Senate from 2003 to 2019, representing the Enugu West Senatorial District. He was the Deputy President of the Senate of Nigeria from 2007 to 2019, making him the longest-serving Deputy President of the Senate in the history of Nigeria. He was also a member of several Senate committees, including the Committee on Constitution Review, which he chaired.

Senator Ekweremadu is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), one of Nigeria’s major political parties. He has been an active member of the party, serving as the Deputy National Secretary, National Organizing Secretary, and National Vice Chairman of the party. He has also been a strong advocate for good governance, rule of law, and human rights in Nigeria.

In 2019, Senator Ekweremadu lost his bid for re-election to the Nigerian Senate to a candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC) party. Despite this loss, he remains a respected figure in Nigerian politics and continues to be involved in public service and advocacy.
