“Report and we will take it up”

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has known as on Nigerians to report any case of unauthorized and extreme debit on their accounts.

The apex monetary establishment in Nigeria issued this assertion by way of its spokesman, Osita Nwanisobi throughout an interview with TheCable.

Owing to the outcries from Nigerians because of extreme and incomprehensive debits on their financial institution accounts, Mr Nwanisobi informed residents to not hesitate to report on to the establishment to ensure that the case to be duly addressed.

“What you need to be asking them (financial institution clients) is that if they’ve reported these incidents to the CBN. We work based mostly on the knowledge we obtain.

“We have channels, we have educated them, we have stated that you’ve the proper to complain in case you get debited. We have written on our web site about the price of financial institution fees. If anyone is charging you greater than what you see, what do you do?

“You have to report back to CBN and we will take it up. Anytime we have achieved sensitisation, we confirmed them, in concrete phrases, the quantity we have recovered from banks and despatched again to people.

“Customers should report to the CBN. We have channels, we have email addresses where they can reach us. That’s what they should do.”

He added that if banks fail to effectively tackle laid down complaints inside two weeks, the client can ahead the criticism to the Consumer Protection Department (CPD) of the CBN.
