On social media, Nigerians believed to be southwesterners registered their outrage after the Counsel for the detained activist, Chief Yomi Aliyyu broke the information.

Aliyyu mentioned the Benin Republic renewed Ignoho’s incarceration regardless of that there was no prison charge in opposition to him and no extradition request from the Nigerian Government.

Reacting, @Olorunnisola Innocent mentioned, “You are punishing an innocent man for protecting his own people against terrorism… It’s quite certain that Benin republic will forever regret this act in the future and pay dearly for supporting terrorism because I believe that Yoruba Nation will surely come.”

@Obatoo mentioned, “This will end in tears for Benin Republic.”
