Pope Francis has been in the news in recent days for quite extraordinary reasons.
The images coming out of Vatican has melted hearts all over the world and got people talking.
First, it was the image of the Pontiff on Friday, Standing under the rain in a clearly deserted St.Peter’s square rendering a special blessing to the Country and the world at large as he prayed for the end of the global pandemic coronavirus.
It was during a special Urbi et Orbi prayer, an occasion that is usually a big one, specially reserved for only Christmas and Easter Sunday.
However, this time the Pope held the Urbi et Orbi prayer all by himself, an image that has never been seen before in the Vatican.
During the prayer, the Pontiff stired up the people’s faith as he made a biblical allusion that ‘we are all in the same boat’, and proceeded to make reference to the apostle’s experience in the Storm… The disciples ask Him, ” Teacher, do you not care if we perish?”
The Pope perfectly, described the storm as the current state of happenings in Italy and the world at large.
Then he recalled the word of the Lord Jesus in the midst of the storm: ” Why are you afraid? Have you no faith ?”.
” For weeks now it has been evening. Thick darkness has gathered over our squares, our streets and our cities; it has taken over our lives, filling everything with a deafening silence and a distressing void that stops everything as it passes by; we feel it the air, we notice it in people’s gesture, their glances give them away.” The Pope said.
Now, the Pontiff has added feet to his faith by defying the the current situation in Italy by stepping out to visit hospitals and pray for the sick.
This is singular act is what has got people talking and energized in Italy and the world at large.
Meanwhile, Italy remains the worst hit country in the world with 10,779 deaths and 97,689 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
